Everything’s going South
As usual Lovie’s route is ambitious and has few straight lines. Despite months planning for the harsh roads of the African continent it is actually the ‘easiest’ legs of the journey, crossing Europe that quickly prove most troublesome. But once they get out of dank Germany spirits begin to rise and it seems like nothing can stop the merry gang as their ferry spits the dismal wrecks out onto Moroccan soil.
But this is where the real journey begins. They must first cross the Sahara Desert and the minefields of no-man's land between Western Sahara and Mauritania … and this only gets them out of North Africa. There's still two-thirds of the troublesome continent to go. Ahead across the equator lays a swath of deteriorating roads, difficult visas and the ever-constant problem of their choice of vehicles.
